My Best Paris Restaurants:
La Tour d’Argent

La Tour d’Argent
15-17, Quai de la Tournelle, 75005 Paris
Metro: Pont Marie or Cardinal Lemoine
Phone: 01 43 54 23 31
Hours: Lunch and Dinner (closed for lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays)

French Haute Gastronomie at its very best…

Dining at La Tour d’Argent is something you must plan and an experience you would want to treasure. This is no ordinary restaurant, in fact I don’t think it would be unfair to say that it caters unabashedly to the élite. That’s a good thing, particularly for that day when it’s your turn to be up for an extraordinary occasion.

As you might suspect, marriage proposals, wedding engagement parties, celebrities, the super rich and special celebrations are common fare in these parts.

When you have to have Haute Cuisine and the pinnacle of the restaurant experience, La Tour d’Argent is the dream place. And most people will get to do only that: dream of it. It is obviously pricey, but it’s getting dinner reservations on a short stay in Paris that is pretty much futile. You’ll have to start well in advance.

You stand a better chance if you try it for lunch or a very early (late afternoon) dinner. Dress appropriately, as fancy -or at least formal- attire is the norm. Men will need to wear a tie in addition to a good credit card. They’ll let you borrow the former from their in-house selection, but for the latter, you’re on your own...

The sophisticated interior décor is matched only by the ideal location on the River Seine Left Bank, presenting you with a glorious panorama of Ile de la Cité (the birth place of Paris), Ile Saint-Louis and Notre-Dame.

Don’t miss the world-renowned signature canard (duck) dish.
