Ingredients for 4: 1 lb sliced onions Heat butter and oil in large saucepan; add onions and stir for 5 minutes over medium heat; add mustard and stir for 5 minutes; add wine and 4 (8oz.) cups warm water; add salt and pepper and bring to a boil; let simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Pour soup in heat-proof bowls and top each with toast; pile cheese on top of toast; broil in oven to melt and bubble cheese, then serve.
